“You just paid for it, don’t mess with it!” After your dermal filler appointment, you may feel a slight tenderness to the area and even have slight bruising which is normal. Icing the area can help with bruising, any discomfort, and help reduce some swelling that may result. Do not massage the area, as it could cause the filler to move into areas it where it was not meant to be placed.
Stay away from strenuous activities for about 24 hours. You also want to make sure you are upright and not lying down for a minimum for 4 hours after your appointment. This will give your filler time to settle and prevent migration of your dermal filler placement. If you need discomfort relief, try taking Tylenol or Acetaminophen and stay away from Advil/Motrin or Ibuprofen (NSAIDs). NSAIDs have the potential to increase the risk of bruising after your appointment.
