Longevity of fillers depends on the type of dermal filler used as well as placement in the facial or body area.
Typically lip fillers last between 6 months to 1 year depending on the individual. That’s because we are constantly using our lips to converse, eat, and drink. The natural movement can increase the metabolism of the filler within that area causing the filler to dissipate over time. However, remember that each lip filler treatment will be different from your initial visit. As we precisely inject Hyaluronic Acid into the lip, over time your body builds collagen in that area. Meaning your lips will still look fuller even when the filler is completely dissolved. Lip fillers are not only used to help increase size and plumpness but can even treat dry lips by hydrating them from the inside out.
Cheek, chin, and jawline fillers can last over a year. These fillers are placed deeper into the skin and help mimic bone. Most of these areas don’t have a lot of muscular movement, like the lips, meaning the fillers set in on top of the bony prominences of the face and stay there with no migration. Your injectionist will know what type of fillers will be right for you through a thorough assessment of your facial features.
We like to educate clients to get more than 1 syringe of filler. Unfortunately, 1 syringe sometimes just isn’t enough to achieve the results the client desires.
